The Art of Healing

April 15, 2011

I am Waka Sa Hunka of the Rides the White Horse Clan.  I have been recognized as a healer and shaman by Gerald Red Elk of the Yanktonai Lakota Sioux, a healer by Rolling Thunder of the Cherokee, Don Eduardo Calderon, a Peruvian shaman and by several other medicine people in North and South America.   I am a descendant of a Kaskaskia Indian Chief Francois Xavier Mamentouensa Rouensa.

My view of healing is to say it is not a cure but a deeper reaching event in the mind and spirit as well as the body.  A healing does not have anything to do with living or dying.  A healing is much more expansive than the body existing or not.  The art of healing is not in the mechanical, scientific approach but in the spirit, energy, soul, or, if you prefer, the consciousness of both the one seeking a healing and the healer who can facilitate the healing journey.

The art of healing lies in the connection of the healer to the one seeking a healing.  The connection for a healing is mainly one of spirit, energy, and mind and less of the body.  I have learned from my journeys with the “people” that we each have a place within us that holds wisdom, insight, and knowledge to help others.  Each of us has our own path to follow, our own process of discovery, revelation and enlightenment to pursue, but all too often, in our haste to achieve the goal, we lose compassion for the moment and most of all ourselves.  We fail to listen to our own inner voice and that inner voice helps us find our own healing path.  This is what I endeavor to help people do.

I invite you to come and be a part of this space with me, and I will tell you a little about my journey.
